- Careful consideration of corrosion protection.
- Aggressive atmospheric environment.
Comprising of 3,159m² bulk sample and warehouse areas, a 2,350m² laboratory and a 1,235m² administration building, the new SGS facility at Perth International Airport consolidates SGS Australia’s Perth operations to one large facility.
The structures comprised of mixed concrete tilt – panel walls and structural steelwork frames clad with a variety of cladding systems, including concrete panels, masonry and glazing.
Careful consideration to the corrosion protection of the buildings was imperative, as a result of corrosive environments caused by the materials testing and analyses processes.
Site inspection of existing facilities were carried out to assess the durability performance of existing structures and materials, as well as liaison with SGS Australia, to assist in determining the appropriate types of corrosion protection systems.
The laboratory demanded an extensive network of services requiring specific design of the roof structure and close coordination of the consultancy team.
