Edith Cowan University, Mount Lawley
Civil Infrastructure
Subsequent to the successful site remediation of the adjacent Mount Lawley Senior High School site, Pritchard Francis was commissioned to complete the civil site establishment works package for the Edith Cowan University student housing expansion.
The project comprised the demolition of two existing buildings and associated car park plus excavation and disposal of approximately 12,000m3 of contaminated material. The impacted material had been contaminated during the sites early use as a sanitary landfill facility during the 1920s and 1930s.
Excavation and disposal works were undertaken within strict environmental control guidelines and procedures.
Pritchard Francis coordinated all project documentation and administered the contract during remediation. Pritchard Francis provided a clerk of works role to ensure compliance with all statutory and contract conditions. Sensitive issues of dust control, transportation of contaminated material, noise and traffic control were all successfully managed throughout the works.
The works were undertaken as part of the site establishment works for a major expansion of the onsite student housing facilities.
