Value Engineering Solution
  • Minimisation of earthworks quantities.
  • Engineering design to save trees and provide landscaping and aesthetic value and initial activation.
  • Recycling of resultant demolition materials on site.
  • Efficient stormwater management through Water Sensitive Urban Design.

Pritchard Francis is engaged to undertake civil engineering consultancy services with Curtin University for design and development of the Mainstreet project, which forms the major spine for the wider Curtin City Master Plan. The Mainstreet project is expected to initiate redevelopment of the Bentley campus in line with the Greater Curtin sustainable city vision.

This project was a place activation driven urban renewal development which will involve construction of high quality streets and major service infrastructure through the University. It also involves several important connections to surrounding networks, including signalised road intersections and major service connections.

The design needed to consider key drivers for the project such as potential future light rail infrastructure, major bus infrastructure, pedestrian priority, tree retention, and shared streets amongst a myriad of existing services and buildings through Western Australia’s most populated University.

Pritchard Francis has been able to deliver a design solution that meets with the sustainability objectives strived for by the University, whilst incorporating several innovative engineering solutions such as passive stormwater design, recycling of demolition materials, tree retention and surface finish design to promote pedestrian activity, cycling and public transport. The Mainstreet project will facilitate significant building development works at the Bentley campus, and transform Curtin into a University City.
