Having been awarded as Western Australia’s Best Regional Golf Club in 2018, the Broome Golf Club is an important part of the region’s tourism industry. In order to maintain this reputation, $5.1 million was invested in the construction of a new clubhouse and restaurant.
Pritchard Francis were engaged as the civil and structural engineers throughout feasibility, schematic and detailed design, before providing contract administration services through to project completion.
The site provided some unique challenges for the design team including being built in an aggressive marine environment at the top of a steep hill and sand dunes. Innovative drainage designs with a strong emphasis on aesthetics were required to manage the monsoonal storms while blending in the natural environment.
The structural system featured durable pine timber trusses to address the durability and amplified wind loads associated with the elevated coastal position of the facility.
