Red Castle
Property
- Transfer structure eliminated throughout project
- Localized screw piled solution to avoid soil remediation
- Stiffness of modular system used for wind and earthquake case to minimise cores.
At the north west edge of the Lathlain Precinct, this project was proposed as an up to seven storey multi-storey residential development, with two levels of underground car parking.
All units in Red Castle were designed to be made from prefabricated “pods” using the Hickory Modular system. Columns in the supporting structure were located directly below the module support points, virtually eliminating transfer structure, and significantly reducing the construction cost.
Located on a poorly compacted sand site, multiple foundation schemes, including soil remediation, and screw piling were analyzed to find the optimal overall solution.
Pritchard Francis was commissioned to undertake the structural and civil design for this project, as a member of Hickory Group’s Design and Construct team.
Through this project, Pritchard Francis further demonstrated and built on its experience in modular solutions for apartment developments.
This project did not proceed beyond design.
