Vinnies State Headquarters
Property
- Futureproofing for potential future tenants
- Allowances were made in the slab design to suit, with these allowable loadings made clear on the structural drawings.
- Detailing for high quality slab finish. This was able to be poured after construction of the warehouse, enabling a high-quality finish without damage from the sun or wind during curing.
St Vincent De Paul Society (Vinnies) in Western Australia was previously operating from a head office located in Belmont and a depot (including office and retail shop) in Osborne Park but forecast growth of Vinnies retails outlets and the expansion of welfare services in general resulted in the need to expand their facilities.
The new Vinnies State Headquarters is located within the Swan Brewery Industrial Estate on Baile Road in Canning Vale, approximately 14km south-east of Perth CBD.
Insight Project Services engaged Pritchard Francis to provide civil and structural engineering consultancy services for the project.
The development involved design and construction of a large steel framed warehouse, offices, retail shop, associated amenities and 114 bay car-park, with external hardstand and landscaping. A combined portal and braced frame solution was utilised to maximise the efficiency of the steelwork and reduce costs for the Client. Future proofing was also taken into consideration through additional roof space being allowed for and the maximum corresponding racking heights being accommodated in the slab design.
