Located in Kewdale, the Toyota WA Head Office is a landmark project in Western Australia, due to its appearance and environmental leadership.
The development adds another major project to Pritchard Francis’ growing portfolio of Green Star accredited developments.
Efforts of the design team enabled the building to achieve its 5 Star Office Design rating and be classed as industry-leading in its sustainability attributes.
Built using a preassembled structural steel frame and permanent formwork, this highly efficient structure’s carbon footprint was minimised and future flexibility maximised. A deep-deck composite sheeting was used for the suspended concrete slab, becoming one of the first projects in Western Australia to use this particular type of system. It facilitated a short construction program for the suspended works and allowed the Contractor fast access following the concrete pours, without needing to deconstruct formwork that would be required with typical suspended slab pours.
In addition, a market leading 69% cement replacement was used in all concrete for the project, reducing the concrete carbon footprint by more than half.
Several architectural features were incorporated into the structural design, including a floating staircase, feature façade fins, a cantilever entry statement and exposed internal trusses.
The structural design was fully documented in Revit.
